President

  Gregg Bush is an independent Associate & Group Benefits Specialist for Pre-Paid Legal Service®, Inc., a pioneer in the legal services industry in the US and Canada. As an alumnus of UTEP and a Director with the company, Bush has used has marketing expertise to expand his home-based business nationwide. In addition, Bush works with the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau, as well as the Downtown Lion’s Club and the Sun Bowl Association. As an undergraduate, Bush was President of the American Marketing Association Collegiate chapter, a founding member of the Business College Council and officer with Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Bush graduated with a BBA in Marketing in 1990.
     


Vice President

 

Jose A. Alanis obtained his BA in Political Science and BA in History from UTEP in 2002. His career started in retail and ran for 6 years, starting as a part-timer and work his way up to area store manager. In 2005 he decided to change his career and chose to become a financial advisor with Waddell & Reed Financial Services, Inc. As a financial advisor his mission is to assist clients in developing a comprehensive personalized financial plan that effectively weighs short-term needs and long-term objectives. Jose and his wife Marcela just celebrated the birth of their first child, Alan.

     


Membership Chair

  Melanie T. Thomas received her BBA in Marketing from UTEP in 1978 and is currently a graduate student working toward her MBA. Melanie has been working at UTEP for five years, and is currently a Manager in the Information Technology department. She was a Golddigger during her undergraduate years and is working with the UTEP Music Department to have all former Band members and Golddiggers at the 100th Homecoming in 2014. A resident of El Paso for nearly 40 years, Melanie is active in many school, civic and church activities including the  Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts, and the University Women’s Club. Together with Kevin, her husband of 18 years, Melanie supports the family’s other athletic and musical activities.

Secretary

  Hilario R. Monreal recieved his M.Ed in 2005 from UTEP with a focus in higher education, as an Educational Outreach Manager for the School of Nursing at UTEP College of Health Sciences, has always expressed a desire to help and assist in all Alumni events, even in a crisis situation. As a former Ranger Instructor and Ranger, Hilario retired as a Special Forces Airborne Medic (doing most of his operations in Central and South America) from the U.S. Army.  He demostrates a desire to step up and get more involved by officially contributing his time and efforts to the Chapter. Hilario seasonally coaches and umpires baseball games in the Northeast area from Feb-Nov for each of 10 years. He has always dreamed of being involved in University activities and providing a service while having fun! He contemplated all of those ideas while jumping out of airplanes and working in the jungles of Central and South America. Hilario has been a member of the Alumni Association since 2001 and this year along with his wife became a Lifetime member.
     


Treasurer

  Alicia Meier is Director of Special Projects & Major Gifts for KCOS Public Television. At KCOS, she is responsible for all special event fundraising. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts with minors in English and Education in 1969. Before coming to KCOS, Ms. Meier was Director of the Amigo Airsho and prior to that worked in the financial services and lending industry for 16 years, after having taught high school for 8 years. Ms. Meier has served on national, state, and local boards for numerous professional organizations and has received several awards from those organizations including the International Council of Airshows, National Association of Bank Women, Institute of Financial Education, American Heart Association, YWCA, El Paso Mortgage Bankers Association, El Paso Association of Builders, and the Greater El Paso Association of Realtors.
     


Historian

  Dov E. Kupfer, AIFD attended Mesita Elementary and is an honor graduate of El Paso High School. Kupfer received his BA with honors in art all levels with teacher certification from UTEP in 1981. Kupfer is an award winning designer and owner of Designs by Dov E., a freelance floral design enterprise specializing in custom design and events. His interests include photography, stage design, costume design, event planning and décor. Kupfer has held the positions of vice president, treasurer and historian for various organizations including Mortar Board as a UTEP senior. He is experienced in photography, scrap booking and photo album compilation.
