Alicia Meier

Alicia is Director of Special Projects & Major Gifts for KCOS Public Television.  At KCOS, Ms. Meier is responsible for all special event fundraising.  She graduated with a bachelor of arts in theatre arts and minors in English and Education in 1969.  Before coming to KCOS, she was Director of the Amigo Airsho and prior to that worked in the financial services and lending industry for 16 years, after having taught high school for 8 years. 

Alicia has served on national, state, and local boards for numerous professional organizations and has received several awards from those organizations including the International Council of Airshows, National Association of Bank Women, Institute of Financial Education, American Heart Association, YWCA, El Paso Mortgage Bankers Association, El Paso Association of Builders, and the Greater El Paso Association of Realtors.

Alicia has also served as Treasurer for the El Paso Chapter of the UTEP Alumni Association since February 2005.

Kevin R. Thomas

After attending UTEP as a Fine Arts student, Kevin began his career in the employ of El Paso Natural Gas Company.  Since 1999, he has followed his entrepreneurial spirit and has since worked as an independent IT Consultant compiling nearly two decades of experience as a well-versed and talented application developer and network engineer with strong backgrounds in technical integration, accounting, financial reporting, business operations, management, training, and consulting.

In addition to serving as the Technology Chairperson for the current El Paso Chapter Board, Kevin also serves as a board member for SITO (an El Paso area IT professional’s organization) where he is responsible for organizing events and chairs the SITO Awards committee.

Kevin along with Melanie, his wife of 19 years, are raising three bright and rambunctious sons whose interests are as varied as his own which include guitar, woodworking, and golf.

Melanie T. Thomas

A member of the Alumni Association since 2001, Melanie has been active with the El Paso Chapter since it’s development and is the 2006-07 Membership officer.  Melanie is also on the for the 2007 campus committees for Minerpalooza and Homecoming, and is working with the Music Department to have all former Band members and Golddiggers at the 100th Homecoming in 2014.

A resident of El Paso for nearly 40 years, Melanie is active in many school, civic and business activities including the  Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts, and the UTEP Women’s Auxiliary. She is the 2007-2008 President of the University Women’s Club, a social and civic organization for female employees and spouses of employees.

Together with Kevin, her husband of 19 years, Melanie supports her family’s other academic, musical, and Scout activities. She received her BBA in Marketing from UTEP in 1978 and is currently a UTEP graduate student working toward her MBA. Melanie has worked at UTEP for six years, and is a Manager in Information Technology.

Sam Diaz

I'm an El Pasoan, graduated from Burges High School a long time ago. It's been so long that I can't remember when I graduated ! I'm from the UTEP Class of 1975. Have worked in the credit union industry for almost 30 years. I worked my way up the ladder, starting as a teller and now President/CEO of Mountain Star Federal Credit. I'll be celebrating my 8th year here in July. Previously, I was the President/CEO of Chevron Federal Credit Union.

My interests are pretending to be a golfer. After 15 years of playing, I'm finally scoring in my mid 90's. In another 15 years, I'll be ready to compete against Tiger Woods. I love music, sipping on red wine and reading Harry Potter books. I enjoy going out to dinner or going out for a walk with my lovely wife.

I'm deeply honored for the nomination of Treasurer and I hope I live up to the Chapter's expectations. I bleed "Miner Orange"  always have and always will.

Dov E. Kupfer

Dov E. Kupfer, AIFD, attended Mesita Elementary and is an honor graduate of El Paso High School. Kupfer received his BA with honors in art all levels with teacher certification from UTEP in 1981.

Kupfer is an award winning designer and owner of Designs by Dov E., a freelance floral design enterprise specializing in custom design and events. His interests include photography, stage design, costume design, event planning and décor.

Kupfer has held the positions of vice president, treasurer and historian for various organizations including Mortar Board as a UTEP senior and this past year for the chapter. He is experienced in photography, scrap booking and photo album compilation.

As an undergraduate, Bush was President of the American Marketing Association Collegiate chapter, a founding member of the Business College Council and officer with Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Bush graduate with a BBA in Marketing in 1990.
